The Cup of Desire, 2022
21 x 20 x 16 cm

“The words on this cup are actually from the bible, taken from a love poem in ‘Song of Songs’. But when I read these intense lines of desire I think about the ‘pull’ of reading and how it is like a relationship. And how when you are reading a really really good book you just can’t wait to be with it and devour more of the words and to be filled up and nourished by the story. Just like, sometimes and, if we are lucky, a love affair.”

The Cup of Escape, 2022
20 x 22 x 15.5 cm (SOLD)

“A book takes me on a journey, away from the day to day mundaneness and away from ongoing thoughts. It is possible to escape for a while and reimagine everything and become someone else living a different life. And then reality returns but I just keep thinking about when I can get back to reading my book, as it truly is delicious.”

The Cup Full Of Return 2022.
36 x 40 x 29cm.

“The Solitude of Reading Replenished My Soul, But The Loneliness Didn’t Go Away”. Reading is like a good and reliable friend that is always there for you, it rewards and fulfils you and it makes no judgement. It such a lovely thing to be able to do. Take it away and life is still there, sometimes good, sometimes bad, and, like a friend that’s left me, I am alone again.
